Mompreneur: How to Stay Ahead During School Breaks

Yes, you guessed it, the resident Momprenuer at Mango Marketing Co. (Alicia).

This is a reminder that your clients are not taking a break. Your inbox is not taking a break. But that does not mean you have to choose between work and your kids. You just have to work smarter during these weeks. Take a breath, we got this, someway, somehow. We always do, amiright?

01. Name your work time out loud….to everyone in the house… a lot

“9 to 11 is my deep to work time, and after that we will go on a mommy-daughter date for ice cream.”

02. Batch easy tasks for when your kids are close by

Save mindless tasks for when your kids are close by. For me personally, this is editing branding photos or designing anything that does not involve reading. I save emails, CRM, admin tasks, etc., during quiet downtime. If your kids are anything like my youngest, she only needs five minutes to get creatively disruptive. Choose which tasks are easy for you to complete when your kids are next to you, and which you need space for to be in a flow state.

03. Automate, Automate, and Automate

Put your vacation responder on your email, schedule your email marketing, schedule social media posts, schedule blogs, and create automated reminders through CRM programs. If you have the tools in your website, hosting, CRM, or social media app, please use it.

04. Lower the bar on perfection

This is a “say what I do, don’t do as I say moment”. I am still learning not to listen to the Type A perfectionist Capricorn voice deep inside me. If it’s client work, it will always be perfect, but for other things…especially when someone needs snacks every 20 minutes…I know I have to say “this is something I need to outsource”.

05. Protect non-negotiable work time daily

Even 1 hour a day of focused flow state work time will keep you from falling behind or, if you’re like me, having ADHD paralysis.

You are trying to stay ahead without sacrificing the good stuff. It doesn’t happen without structure, practice, and probably a ton of reminders. Our goal this Summer is to keep your marketing moving while you stay present with your kids. Look through our many services and see how we can help make your Summer easier through a website that works for you 24/7, social media strategy, or branding pho
