Let' s cut to the chase: not every platform is made for you and that's okay.

One of the biggest mistakes small business owners make is trying to be everywhere at once. Spoiler: it's a fast track to burnout and mediocre content. Here is how to figure out where you actually belong.

1. Know your audience first

Before you open a new account, ask: where does my ideal customer actually hang out? A Gen Z fashion brand lives on TikTok. A B2B consultant? LinkedIn is your playground. It doesn't mean you can't have a TikTok or can't do reels on Instagram. It just says "this is where you focus FIRST"

2. Match the platform to your content style It's your business. If you love doing it (or can outsource to someone who loves doing it)

  • Love short video? TikTok or Reels.

  • Great at writing? LinkedIn or Pinterest.

  • Stunning visuals? Instagram all day.

  • Community-driven? Facebook Groups.

3. Start with two platforms max

Master two before adding a third. Consistency beats quantity every single time. Also, download a scheduler app to help make being on these social media platforms even easier. We highly suggest Planoly for it's affordability and user-friendly platform.
