Three Things to Do When You're Antsy But Have Work to Do

Alicia always asks me, "do you need to get your wiggles out?" To be fair, she has two kids so she is used to someone being restless. Her and I (Natty) have two modes: hyper-focus or hyper-go, go, go. Sometimes, I am in go, go, go when I need to focus.

  1. Move first: Take a five-minute walk or stretch before sitting down. Getting your body moving helps calm your mind. We will go for a walk outside together, or I'll put on some music. Sometimes I dance it out...literally getting the wiggles out.

  2. Pick one task: Choose the smallest task on your list and start there. I will just reward myself. Get it done and then...xyz.

  3. Set a timer: Work in short bursts, like 20 minutes on and 5 minutes off. It keeps energy contained instead of scattered. We love this "one hour on, one hour off" method.
