Holiday Planning Checklist: Another Look

Remember last year when we talked about How Small Business Owners Can Shine at Holiday Markets? We’re back to talk about it again! But this time, we want to dive deeper into just a couple of items from our checklist (shown in the blog above) and discuss their importance more in depth to help you get the best out of your holiday event experience.

Signage

When it comes to planning any event, signage is important, but this is especially true at vendor events. Having great branding is one of your best assets at vendor markets because it can help you stand out dramatically. From the perspective of an attendee at a vendor event, they’re wading through sometimes hundreds of tables. After a while, it can be hard to focus on any one thing. Tables that are branded well, have clear and attractive signage, and are clean and organized will capture the attention of many. This means more eyes on your business!

We recommend having multiple signs of different sizes and a variety of information to catch the attention of as many people as possible. Signage can be ordered at fedex.com, vistaprint.com, or from our local Philadelphia favorite, fireballprinting.com.

Payment options

Having convenient payment options at a vendor market is SO important for doing well and becoming a business that lots of people visit. I don’t know how many times we’ve found ourselves picking a certain vendor to spend with at an event simply because they had a payment method option that we needed. While some people still bring cash to vendor events, there’s really no reason why you should be a cash-only vendor these days. You’ll likely miss out on a lot of sales if you choose to do so. When you have your signage made, we recommend including a sign that shares your payment method options and lists your applicable payment apps like Venmo or Cash App, and what credit card companies you accept. If you’re able to bring a device that allows tap pay with a phone, so people don’t have to dig out their wallets, even better and more convenient! These little details don’t go unnoticed, especially if you’re a frequent flyer in the vendor scene. People will remember that you’re easy to shop with, and you’ll see friendly faces return time and again.

We’ve included the list again for your convenience, and we hope this expansion gave you some information that makes you feel more confident heading into your holiday markets this year! Want more deep dives on this topic? Let us know!
