You can stay within your personal style but elevate the look. Comfort is key so you are not constantly worrying that something has to keep being adjusted.
Beauty services
We encourage makeup and a hairstyle that matches your outfit(s). If you are hiring a professional, pad your timeline with at lease 20 extra minutes. Reminder: Makeup setting spray (especially on warmer days) and hairspray (especially on windy days) are a must.
What to bring
Large bags/backpacks/totes/suitcases and tubs/boxes/crates are usually the best option to pack for photoshoots. We can chat about what you need exactly for your individual session, and if your location is at the studio, we do have a rack for hanging clothing items and a table for you to spread everything out so we can visualize and grab items as needed.
How to look and feel your best
It's all about your mindset. We all love flattering photos where we think “I look good!” and our goal is to give you that with creative direction. It is normal and natural to be more critical of our own appearance, as we are not always used to seeing so many different angles of our faces and bodies in photos/videos. These feelings can be eased with an open line of communication.
Posing tips
The goal is to feel flexible for more photo options, so don't wear anything that is too tight, needs constant adjustments, or is not comfortable to move around in. To avoid unflattering posing, always slightly lean your head and neck forward towards the camera when facing it from the front or side. Never leave your hand dangling next to your side awkwardly. Try these things: putting your hands in pockets, holding onto your jacket, hanging your thumb in belt loops, pinching the side of your dress for movement, adjusting your accessories, brushing your hair away, touching the tip of your glasses/hat, placing your hand under your chin, leaning on a table or chair, etc.
Set your tone
Prepare everything in advance; have it all packed and ready to walk out the door before the day of your photoshoot. On the day of, make your photoshoot the highlight of your day. Don't fill the time right before with multiple appointments or running errands. You can set the tone by being relaxed, allowing enough time to get ready, and packing everything ahead of time so nothing is forgotten.
