5 Things We've Learned in 5 Years in Business

If there's one thing that's universally true about owning a business, it's that it will humble you and grow you at the same time (heavy on the humbling part)

As Alicia and I (Natty) celebrate Mango's 5th year in business, we wanted to yap about the 5 things we've learned that we think might help other business owners too.

1: Consistency beats perfection every time

Alicia and I will forever argue about this but since I'm writing the blog, I win. My thought, especially with social media, is a post that "tanks" still has more views than a post in your drafts.

2: Your first version of your business will not be your last

The services we offered in year one look nothing like what we offer now, and that's a good thing.

3: The right clients are worth the wait

Saying yes to every client early on taught us a hard lesson: not every client is the right fit, and that's okay.

4: Community will carry you further than competition

Some of our biggest opportunities came from other small business owners shouting our name when we weren't around.

5: Rest is part of the plan, not a reward for finishing

Burnout doesn't announce itself. A business built on exhaustion isn't sustainable, no matter how good it looks from the outside.

Here is to another five beautiful years. We're just getting started. Xoxo, Team Mango
