3 Top Reads For Small Business Owners

3 Top reads for small business owners

If there’s one thing to know about us, we’re always gonna recommend a book! Audiobooks are the perfect companion on a hot girl walk, a long drive, or when you’re trying to ignore the person next to you on your flight. If you like to read actual pages, we support that too! There's nothing like a good book and a cute little snack plate on a cozy afternoon. While there are a number of incredible recommendations that we could make, we picked 3 that we think will transform your perspective, inspire you, and maybe even push you to grow! As a result, your business will grow too.

I Will Teach You to be Rich by Ramit Sethi

This book is highly recommended for a reason. Ramit is kind, but no nonsense. He gives the facts to you straight and breaks them down in a way that is easy to understand. This book empowers you to organize your personal finances and create systems that will serve you as both a business owner and an individual. When your personal finances are in a good place, it’s much easier to manage business finances on top of that. “I Will Teach You to be Rich” is a great place to start.

We Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel Rodgers

Another finance book, but from a different perspective. This book speaks more to business owners and aspiring business owners. It tackles the idea that we should want less by positioning us with strategies to dream big and make more. It attacks the notion that money is inherently bad and platforms successful entrepreneurs that are using their large revenue to do good in the world. We Should All Be Millionaires was written to inspire and elevate Black women, queer folks, disabled individuals, and other people who have historically been kept out of spaces with power, resources, and influence. However, there are valuable lessons for any business owner in there that seeks to make an income that allows them to create a lasting impact.

Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes

This book is a step away from finances, but it’s just as important. In the Year of Yes, author Shona Rhimes takes us through her year of committing to being open to things she’d normally say no to. This book is a powerful reminder of the transformative power of remaining open to new opportunities. As business owners, it’s important to remind ourselves to stay open to a pivot and not to let the box we, or others, put ourselves in be the reason we don’t evolve and grow bigger and better.
