3 Tips to Keep Your Google My Business Profile Updated
If you’ve got a business, you need a Google My Business profile. Not sure why? Read our blog “We Listen and We Don’t Judge” Unless You Don’t Have a Google Business Account. While having a Google My Business profile is a good starting point, it's important to know that you’ll only continue to get maximum benefits from it if you keep it updated regularly. We’ve got you covered with what to do and why!
Keep operating info updated
One of the easiest ways to remain reliable and trustworthy to your clients is to keep your basic business information up to date on your Google My Business profile. Make sure your business name, contact info, and physical address are accurate so people can find and reach you. If you have a website, make sure that it’s linked to your profile also. Also, be sure to keep your current business hours updated accordingly. Remember to update the profile if you’re going to be closed on a normal business day for a holiday or if you have shortened holiday hours. There are few things more frustrating as a customer than to travel to a business because their profile says they’re open only to find they’ve already closed or weren’t open at all.
Post relevant photos
Keep your listing active by adding new photos periodically. This doesn’t necessarily need to be as frequent as social media, but adding images of new specials, items, events, and other relevant content is useful to let people know you’re open and active.
Respond to reviews
Another important action to take on your Google My Business profile is to take the time to respond to reviews. Depending on how frequently you receive reviews, this can be a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly task. If you do get a very poor review, it’s best to respond to that as soon as possible. Try to offer a thoughtful, personalized response. If you receive a large volume of reviews on a regular basis, consider writing out some standard replies that you can paste in for more efficient responses. If you do this, please make sure that the response you choose is appropriate for the review that has been given.
With just a few regular check-ins per month, your Google My Business account should run smoothly and help direct traffic to your business. This is one of the most valuable free tools available to get your business in front of new eyes, so don’t neglect it!
